Liposuction

What Is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a procedure that improves the contours of the body by permanently removing excess fat deposits. It’s often desired when individuals are unhappy with their physical appearance or when diet and exercise fail to produce satisfactory results.

The Benefits of Liposuction

  • Look better in or out of your clothing
  • Creates more balanced proportions
  • Builds confidence
  • Improves self-image

Choosing the Right Liposuction Method

While there is a wide range of fat removal treatments available today, from lasers to melt fat or cooling to freeze fat cells away, many of these procedures require multiple treatments and offer minimal results at best. Standard liposuction techniques that have been around since the 1980s are tried and true, and I believe they are the “gold standard” because they consistently provide reliable and noticeable results.

What to Expect

Before liposuction is performed, the patient is put under general anesthesia and monitored by an anesthesiologist. Very small (no longer than ¼ inch) incisions are made, and the fatty tissue is infused with a tumescent solution designed to numb the area and facilitate more efficient removal of fat. Excess fat tissue is then permanently removed through a cannula with a suctioning device, and the incisions are closed with dissolvable sutures.
